Browns Finally Find Their New GM; Offensive Coordinator

After a long search for head coach, the Cleveland Browns still needed a GM, as well as an offensive coordinator. In this last week the Browns have filled both spots, naming earlier in the week that the Browns have hired a very well respected executive around the league, Andrew Barry. He was the assistant GM for the Philadelphia Eagles, and also used to work for the Browns as a vice president for personnel.

After filling the vacant GM role they still needed an offensive coordinator, and the Browns didn’t look very far only to grab the divisional rival’s Cincinnati Bengal’s quarterback coach, Alex Van Pelt and name him the new OC. The Athletic’s very own Zac Jackson broke the news first on Twitter that the Browns have found their new hire Alex Van Pelt, as their Offensive Coordinator. the Browns have now performed what they said they were going to do, which was take their time through all of the off season hiring and to hopefully get it right. We’ll see.

Next 5 Years? Vision Board!

Within the next 5 years i’d love to see myself either owning my own sports radio show or podcast for profit, or either working at a sports radio station. Also another job I’d be interested in is social media marketer for a sports team, or even a cameraman for a sports team! I love to enjoy writing, talking, and viewing sports and believe I can share what I know with the rest of the world who want to hear. I also would love to freelance on the side taking pictures of either sporting events or another hobby I love is shoes and I could take action shots of exclusive shoes. Another freelance I am interested in is after effects and editing videos for others. I’ve seen a lot of work from editors on Youtube who can create these awesome intros and transitions throughout the video and would love to do that as my side job/ freelance.

Early Retirement A New NFL Trend?

In the NFL it seems a new trend has started to occur, many players are retiring at a much younger age than in the past. Yesterday, a top three player at his respective position in the NFL, Luke Kuechly has retired at the age of 28 surprising everybody. This news sparked my interest to dive into more news and find more information on recent players retiring earlier than usual. Some very notable names that have retired before the age of 30 recently are Rob Gronkowski, 28, Kam Chancellor, 30, Andrew Luck, 29, and also Doug Baldwin, 30. This has happened in the past with many stars like Gale Sayers, Calvin Johnson, and also Barry Sanders, but it seems to have become a lot more common now.

Many of these players named have dealt with consistent head injuries during the careers. I believe the recent lawsuits and studies performed by retired players and researches have brought knowledge to players who play the game now that CTE is a very common thing in NFL players and can affect their health significantly later in life. Knowing that the scary truth of playing football you’re whole life will always linger in the back of these players minds while playing, but many just have such a love for the sport they can’t stop playing the game. Seeing younger players go into retirement especially very well known and decorated players should have an impact on how the NFL approaches this new situation. This has been the end of part one of my two part series on the retirement of young football players. Tune into the second part to hear what I have to say about the new safety rules that have been put into the game recently and plan to be put in soon.
